The absolute joy of Adelaide Fringe is picking a show you know little about, and finding it is an absolute gem.

Prohibition, appropriately held in The Speakeasy, is set in 1930's USA - a time, we are reminded, where alcohol was illegal but cocaine wasn't.

There's swing, there's jazz and there are some amazing acts - a wonderful singer, incredible acrobatics, comedy and a little magic too. Many of the acts are familiar, some are appearing in other shows throughout this fringe, others have performed in past festivals too. These are professionals, and the acts are polished and impressive (and even more interesting when things don't go to plan!). One is left suspecting that no two shows are exactly the same, especially with Dado, Dirk Darrow and Paddy the Plank!

You'll ooh and ahh, you'll sigh and laugh - but you won't be bored! I loved it - the acrobatics, the hula hoops, the ball skills, the dancing and singing....and even the cheesiest joke.

My suggestion - see an early show (take a chance on something you've not heard of!), stick around Gluttony for a few drinks and then head in to see Prohibition.
