Preston Market

Preston Market maybe the Victoria Market's less famous cousin, but it offers just as many treats and surprises for those willing to make the trip.

Open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8am until 3pm, Thursday until 6pm, and Friday until 8pm, the market is located on the corner of Cramer and Murray Streets (in Preston) right next to the Preston Train Station.

There is also lots of parking around the market, including a nameless supermarket over the road which generously provides 2 hours free parking.

The market itself sprawls over several buildings and you will find all kinds of shops selling all manner of goods including clothes, electronics, gifts, and flowers.

The best part of the market however is definitely the food which includes super cheap fruit and veg along with lots of bakeries, delis, butchers, and coffee stalls. Perfect for an interesting and varied brunch on a Saturday morning.

It's also worth waiting until around 12.30pm when the butchers start offering very cheap meat -- a great way to stock up the freezer.
