Honk Pop-up Play and Splash Adelaide are putting together something a little different for the start of the school holidays. Honk's Pop-up Junkyard will take over the East Terrace Glover Playground and give kids and chance to use their imaginations to get creative.

Honk are a team with pop up events that let children create their own play spaces using recycled materials. You know that old joke about Christmas, where you give a kid a present and they'll end up playing with the box? Well, it's a bit like that, except the list of materials doesn't stop at boxes. There are milk crates, PVC pipes, tyres, logs, and so much more. Kids can build cubbies, design games, climb high or crawl through. Honk help make play dynamic by putting kids in charge and seeing where their creativity takes them.

The whole thing will be supervised by volunteer play rangers. They're there to make sure things stay safe, as well as encouraging and helping kids without dictating how their creations take shape.

As well as the pop-up junkyard, there will be plenty of other activities like chalkboards, hula hoops and craft inside a yarn-bombed tee-pee village. Splash Adelaide will also be bringing out the Imagination Playground --a customisable soft-play play ground that is perfect for younger children. The regular East Terrace Glover Playground will also be open.

There will be space for parents too, with food and drink available.

The is part of Nature Play Week , encouraging kids to get outside and play in different ways.
