Popshop is definitely the funniest shop in town. This is the kind of place that you would've imagined Fred and George Weasley's joke shop to be like from Harry Potter, but for muggles. It is packed with books, toys, cards and random gadgets that are edgy and just for fun. Great place to visit if you are thinking about funny gifts to brighten up someone's day.

When you look at the shopfront, you will notice that they stock the 2012 hobby winner of the year - the "POWERUP" - an electric paper airplane conversion kit. Confused? Never fear. Youtube is here. Check out this kid assembling it . Here's the test flight . Pretty impressive.

Next to these you will see a massive collection of the most adorable POP! vinyl figures of characters from comics, TV shows, films and books. They even have a Sheldon Cooper one!! (Check out the top row in the image below)

There is also an interesting collection of books being sold. For your hypochondriac friend, there's "The Complete Manual of THINGS THAT MIGHT KILL YOU". A "just for fun" guide that lists differentials for various complaints complete with illustrations and explanations! There's also the Wordless book for tourists that arms the travel junkie with a gazillion photos of common things that one would need so they can conveniently point to it when lost in translation. For those less linguistically challenged, there is a book on how to say rude words in various foreign languages. The less mature would enjoy the fart books (that come with audio).

You'll find heaps of home/kitchen/bar items here. Popshop stocks products from well-known funny brands such as Fred&Friends, my favourite item being the Ninjabread men cookie cutters! There's also some other weird stuff like bacon flavoured toothpaste.

The shop also sells Sea Monkeys (a.k.a brine shrimp) which were popularised in comic books back in the day. The pack comes with a package of eggs which you add with water to the aquarium - and voilĂ  instant sea monkeys! Check out this retro ad to see what I mean. How exciting!

Pay Popshop a visit next time you happen to be on Crown Street and you'll definitely be entertained the entire duration of your visit.
