Federation Square explodes into colour and culture at this year's fifth
Polish Festival, on this Sunday from 10am to 5pm. The largest Polish festival in the country, it promises to be a cultural and entertainment buffet.
The
program includes plenty of music, song and folklore entertainment on the main stage, a fashion parade, a children's concert and many free kids' activities.
Be sure to explore the myriad of
stalls, which feature a fascinating array of interesting things to explore. Think anything from Baltic art, a Polish radio station and traditional Polish Christmas and Easter decorations to the Roli Poli Cake Shop. I know where I'll be spending much of my time …
The festival website is fascinating, brimming with interesting snippets about the culture as well as a little Polish language
dictionary, which might come in handy, especially given Victoria is home to the largest concentration of Polish-born people and their descendants in the country – and quite a few of them will be there!
If you're not done partying by 5pm, head to the free
after party for continued celebrations – well into the evening.
