Australian Pro Poker invited Team All-In from All-In Publication down to the Palace Hotel at Wood Point for a game of Poker. This site has had a hotel on it since 1883. The Great Western was the original hotel, owned by Thomas Moxley, who later moved to the Redcliffe Hotel.
After the Great Western was burnt down in 1927, Pearson Cameron built the Palace Hotel. It has a lot of history including being one of the hotels that the Bee Gees performed in.
It has had some major facelifts since then, including renovation to the bistro and gaming area. We try out the bar menu for dinner and order a steak burger and chips and Dannii orders a BLT and chips. Both $9.50 each, which also includes a beer or a glass of the house wine.
But tonight is about poker, and a fantastic game was to be had. Great bar staff and friendly poker players made the evening enjoyable.
Tournament director "Ben" announces "shuffle up and deal" at 7:00pm. Forty players are seated to play for cash and prizes and the title of tournament champion.
By 9:30pm the final table is decided and 9 players take their seats, including Team All-In Dannii.
Players begin to fall and by 10:05pm there are only two players left; Dannii (Team All-In) and Nathan. The cards are dealt to each of them, and Dannii announces, "All -In." In a flash Nathan calls. Dannii shows J clubs K clubs and Nathan reveals 2 clubs 2 diamonds.
The Flop shows J hearts 6 spades Q clubs Turn 4 clubs river, to Dannii and Nathans surprise 2 spades giving Nathan three dueces (2s) and the Tournament win.
Great Game Guys.
This is a great venue with fantastic staff. Worth getting down there on a Wednesday evening and have dinner and a game of poker.
Poker is free, bar menu $9.50 per meal, Great value.
