How do I love thee? Let me count the ways
All over Perth people are planning romantic Valentine's Day gestures for their significant others. Champagne, chocolates, red roses - all lovely but...so predictable. This year, dare to do something different! Sweep your lover off to the glorious surrounds of the Japanese Garden at Perth Zoo for a picnic and an evening of love poetry under the stars at Poetry d'Amour.

Sponsored by WA Poets Inc (WAPI) as part of the Fringe World Festival, Poetry d'Amour features some of Perth's best poets as well as special guest, national performance poet Candy Royalle. Some of the performances will include music and visual effects.
Last year's sold-out inaugural event got rave reviews from those who attended: " There was love lost, love remembered, love dancing and singing – and even love eaten – but always love sensualised, visualised and celebrated."(J Altman)
WAPI has also published an anthology to celebrate the event. Poetry d'Amour 2013, Love Poems for Valentine's Day is available from Crow Books or Corona Books and can also be purchased online to be collected on the night. Why not select one of the poems and dedicate it to your loved one? For a $20 donation to WAPI, the MC will read your declaration of love.

The Japanese Garden features a grassed amphitheatre in a tranquil landscaped area near a rockpool, perfect for a picnic. Just don't forget the chocolates and champagne.
