One guy actually sat down and without a 'hello' decided he was going to read my palm. I'm actually quite the sceptic so I'm guessing his prediction abilities were quite poor when he revealed "and later, when you meet my mother...". Errrr. Needless to say, I will not be meeting his mother.
Another guy delved straight into a discussion about where to find the cheapest booze in Sydney. My guess was Dan Murphy's. But alas, no - it's Costco. We spent the remaining time chatting about the difference between a cheese knife and a regular knife (he was stoked with his recent cheese knife purchase). We won't be dating but I will be going out later today to buy a new cheese knife.
Lucky last was incredibly nervous. I decided to ask him what had he been up to that day (open ended question, nice and easy). He replied by telling me he had sat at home all day waiting to attend the speed dating event. Eeck!
I wish this article were fiction. But I figure - one woman's gremlin is another woman's gem.
Do you have any good advice? Funny stories? Where's the best place to meet a man in Sydney?
Dear Rachel, Iam saying HELLO just so you dont feel neglected. I havent drank cheap booze since they stopped making Passion Pop. Even after googling palmistry I still have no idea. It appears I dont have a life line. I looked hard and long for a cheese knife in my kitchen, but alas no cheese knife. Mind you I did discover the most useless kitchen gadget tucked away in a cupboard, the old electric can opener, should you want to borrow one.
And in regards to waiting around all day for speed dating, I would rather chat up a indian call centre girl trying to sell me what ever she wants. One option is to hang around the front of any family law court at closing. You can bet 99% walking out are now single. Another option is learn how to change a tyre, and drive aimlessly around looking for a don in distress who needs help. Well I hope this has helped. PS other option is just ask me out lol. Bruce
My answer is you can find good men 'everywhere'!
On the bus, walking down the street, the beach, shops etc however many guys don't bother saying hi as girls these days walk around with their iPods in their ears or their heads in their smartphones.
Hence my tip is to put away your gadgets for a moment, be approachable, smile at a guy, heck even start up a convo and you may find your search less of a chore. ;p
I think they still make passion pop?
And there are always plenty of babein Solicitors around at the Family Court. As a Family Law PA, I'd advise avoiding the parties of any proceedings ongoing / recently finalised at the Family Court (lots of nutters...).
I was discussing this with a friend only recently, I have such issues finding decent guys! They're all crazy or complete d-bags.
This is funny, I also attended a speed dating event last year. It was somewhat weird, given I had only 5 mins to try to get to know them...and 10 dates was quite a lot for me, so the unfortunate last two had to cope my statement - this is the most boring 5 mins of my life!
