Here in the Blue Mountain's we usually enjoy a cool crisp climate, but we still get some of those summer days when the heat is just unbearable and so we grab our picnic rugs and escape to Wentworth Falls Lake in the Upper Mountains. It is an easy 90 minute drive from Sydney and a great space for the whole family to get outside and enjoy the beautiful natural environment we have in the mountains.

On a summer's evening the Lake welcomes local families, tourists, walkers and people out for a spot of hopeful fishing or a picnic dinner. The lake is a perfect spot to paddle about on your kayak and for the little people there are two fabulous Playgrounds including the much loved Pirate Ship Playground and bring those bikes or scooters as there are great paved areas to go for a spin.

If you are not up for a big bush walk, the lake has a great walking path that almost circumnavigates the lake and will take you on a gentle stroll through the bush.

The Lake area has an excellent covered BBQ area with plenty of seating but you will need to get here early to secure your spot. If you would rather outsource your meal plans the beautiful village of Wentworth Falls is a couple of minutes drive away and offers plenty of fabulous takeaway options including several cafes, Indian, Chinese, Pizza, Fish and Chips and and you must stop in at Bakery Schwarz's Patisserie for some authentic German baked treats, including fresh baked pretzels and breads, and a swoon worthy array of gateau's, tarts and eclairs'.
