Looking for somewhere a bit different that is quiet and peaceful to visit this weekend? Then visit the historical
.
is a picturesque replica of an early settler's gold mining village situated in Armadale. An authentic recreation of early pioneer life, the village was built in the 1980s. It features a restaurant, a cinema and many other quaint specialty stores. Take a relaxing stroll through the tranquil village and admire the architecture of the old style buildings.
used to be a major tourist attraction many years ago but now there is less interaction. The buildings are still there in all their pioneer glory and it's nice to wander around the village looking at the buildings and taking in the history. In the centre of the village is a Ye Olde Wishing Well. The little shops are charming and full of interesting stuff, there is a olde-worlde lolly shop, a craft shop and a bakery.
The Pioneer Village School is a fully functioning community primary school catering for local children from Kindergarten to Year 7.
The Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner as well as serving Devonshire teas daily and breakfast on Sundays.
The theatre was originally created to host live theatrical productions but is now used as a cinema.
Although is not what is used to be and it is a bit out of the way, it is worth a trip to see some of Armadale's deep heritage history. It's a lovely setting and a great place to take some unusual photographs.
is free to enter and wont take up too much of your time.
While you're there, check out some of Armadale's other Heritage tourist attractions.
