Modern man has come so far since the days of hunting and gathering, but sometimes all we really want is a big plate of meat. And there's no other meat that channels your inner Fred Flintstone better than barbeque ribs.
Ask anyone in Adelaide and they'll tell you that the
Pink Pig Wine Bar is the place to go for ribs. I know this because I did ask several people, and the answer was always the same.
Their famous pork spare ribs and devilled chicken wings come in entree and main meal sizes. If you're not the decisive type, you can select a combination (or marriage) of the two. And like Britney Spears first marriage, this one isn't likely to survive the night.
But if you can look past the crowd pleasers for a minute, you'll find that the Pink Pig's menu is surprisingly sophisticated for a rib joint. Oysters, grilled haloumi, and marinated quail are listed in between the ribs and chicken wings, and the caviar dip and toasted white anchovies make a delicious start to the meal.
And the place is called a wine bar for a reason. There's reds, there's whites and there's cellar selection, available by the glass or bottle. Not being a wine drinker I can't attest to their quality, but the choice is certainly extensive.
The Pink Pig Wine Bar is open for lunch from Monday to Friday, and for dinner seven days a week. Reservations are essential. If you miss out on a table, they do offer take aways.
