is one of those great places that the locals have been keeping tight lipped about, lest the rest of Perth might find out and swarm the place like bees to honey. And for good reason too - it's fantastic!



My lovely boyfriend took me to breakfast at Piccos for my birthday last week and I was pleasantly surprised by this unassuming little cafe, just a few minutes drive from home.



From the outside, Piccos is nothing special but you know that old saying 'don't judge a book by it's cover' - well this is one place you certainly want to get inside first. It has that urban, earthy feel, the staff are super friendly, the coffee is beautiful and the food is mostly locally sourced and organic. All of this complimented by a beautiful range of some of WA's best artisan products available for you to take home when you've sufficiently gorged on tasty breakfasts.

For me it was poached eggs with house tea smoked salmon, spinach and dill hollandaise and for my non-egg eating boyfriend, it was chorizo and beans hot pot with sausage and bacon on the side. Delicious! The home made orange juice with orange ice cubes was a great touch also.





For the kiddy conscious, the 'little people menu' and little people corner where kids can play and draw on the chalk board, creates a relaxed environment for families to enjoy a meal any time of day.



There is a great selection of cakes and salads available as well as some of the biggest sausage rolls I've ever seen in my life (which I shall have to return to try one lunchtime).

is open for breakfast and lunch Tuesday to Sunday and dinner on Thursdays and Friday as well. I've been stalking their seasonal dinner menus on the Piccos Facebook page and all I can say is wow! Who would have thought, all this on Peninsula Road in little old Maylands. Definitely adding it to my list of fave Perth breakfast spots.
