I have to admit I spent the most time trying to find somewhere decent to stay in Bangkok, where I would arrive after a long tiring flight – I was looking for something affordable, luxurious yet with character and charm… I searched high and low, and when I finally found it – and got there with minimal expectations I realized I'd won the jackpot.

I so loved Phranakorn Nornlen, I went into Bangkok on the second day and ran back so I could spend more time there. It is located not too far from Kaosan road, but far enough. Everything from the divine ginger tea, mouthwatering food, hangout area and design is just beyond words. It was or is made up to be an old market, so you have antique done up mini stalls below like the hairdresser, post office etc. the design fun, eclectic and just an absolute delight. And I love the room design which is shabby chic, meets high design, and I especially love have of the amazing features such as books, butterflies have been painted onto the wall yet look like they could come to life any second. [BREAK]
On top of this the staff were lovely, and low and behold it was a dream come true they even do creative workshops – while there wasn't one on while I was there I will for sure be heading back on any future trip in Thailand. As I was staying more than two nights I even got a little gift bag, they sure know how to win a lady over – and the cream, mozzie repellent and fan all came to very good use over the course of my trip. [BREAK] It was a little bit more than a normal thai B&B however it was worth every penny for the experience, too many hotels have come every day, and have forgotten it's in the details, Phranakorn Nornlen has not forgotten, it was an oasis in a city of craziness - a hidden gem, and a real treat, so much so I came back to Bangkok early so I could stay a few more nights, and if I ever go back to Bangkok it would just be to stay there! Now that my friend is saying something, so if ever in Bangkok you know where to go. And I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.[BREAK]
