The magic of The Phantom of the Opera has once again graced our stage to mesmerise us. This time, Miranda Musical Society has brought us this magnificent play.

This extravaganza is under Lord Andrew Webber's score; based on a phantom lurking on a shadowy existence of the majestic and splendour of Paris Opera House. In spite being shameful of his physical appearance and feared by all those who gaze upon him, the love he bestowed to Christine is so strong that even her heart cannot resist.

This is a tale of drama, destruction, death and a love so deep and so pure, proves that love knows no bound.

This musical was originally opened at her Majesty's Theatre on October 1986 with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in the leading roles. A mesmerising score, jaw dropping scenery, breathtaking special effect and a voice that seemingly had descended from heaven.

The sea of people that greeted us at Sutherland Entertainment to watch the Phantom of the Opera was phenomenal. All ages of life queued to watch this iconic play.

Upon making our way in the theatre, the massive orchestra backing up the production played such haunting music befitting to the play. You can almost imagine yourself being transported to Paris Opera House where the phantom lurks around afraid of his own shadows.

Christine is magically played by Tamasin Howard. A beauty within herself. The voice of an angel; I couldn't help the tears that threatened to flow my cheek - I had to reach out to my friend's hands for comfort. Tamasin sung the songs with such conviction that I felt the emotions creep up from the pit of my stomach, right through my throat.

The Phantom played by Gavin Leahy is pure magic. Beneath the mask that hid such hideousness lies a heart so pure, a heart that is capable of loving an angel of music unconditionally. His voice still reverberates throughout my body.

Raoul by Jack Dawson is equally mesmerising ; costumes of a production are enviable and the rest of the cast? What can I say?

I can however assure you the trip to Sutherland is absolutely worth it.
