This Spring the Royal Queensland Art Society at Petrie Terrace Gallery is hosting a fantastic range of interactive art and craft workshops for adults and children.November is the perfect time to learn new crafty skills and discover inspiring Christmas gifting ideas!All the classes are held in a relaxed and social atmosphere and all required materials are provided.All are welcome to participate, regardless of skill level.

Explore Painting on Silk10am to 3.30pmCost: $75 which includes the materials (silk, colours, gutta etc.)Spend a nice relaxing and creative time & leave the workshop with 2 hand-painted silk creations of your own.For more information: Email: [email protected] OR phone 0401 220 499Children can also join in the regular Drawing Classes on Mondays from 4pm to 5.30pm.These workshops are ideal for boys and girls who dream of becoming an illustrator, an architect, a fashion designer or games designer. Drawing and visual skills are the basis of all creative industries whether one is using a tablet or a blank piece of paper.These workshops are held in a small group of just 7 or less students at a time and children will learn classic visual techniques with graphite, pencil and charcoal.Children aged 10 to 14 receive one on one teaching from a qualified teacher with QCT registration, experience of teaching drawing to Primary and High School students, BA in Graphic Design, and past experience in arts industries. A new addition to the ongoing classes is the Watercolour Classes available on alternate Wednesdays. Held from 10.30am to 1.30pm, these classes are facilitated by Maria Field and are priced $35 per class.A self-taught artist, Maria is passionate about watercolour and her excitement and enthusiasm are contagious. She delights in creating colourful, clean watercolours with her work, encompassing many subjects, usually inspired by light/shade, colour or shape. She has won over 59 awards, including 19 firsts in the past 10 years and her works are held in private and corporate collections throughout Australia and overseas.This class is ideal for those who would like to learn watercolour or improve their current skills in this exciting and beautiful medium.
