It looks very peaceful, a great place for a summer picnic I'd imagine.

You can usually get them at drive through favourite Muzz Buzz, with flavours including passionfruit cream and choc mint - yum!

Great review Carolyn, it has been years since I have visited the museum and based on this article, it sounds like a fantastic place to take my kids. Congratulations on the award too!

To clarify the name "Hillarys Boat Harbour".

The reviews are mostly for restaurants & cafes at Sorrento Quay Boardwalk, one of several developments at the Harbour. Think of "Hillarys Boat Harbour" as a suburb and Sorrento Quay Boardwalk, AQUA, The Great Escape and Hillarys Harbour Resort as places within that suburb. This is much the same as Whitford City which is in the suburb of Hillarys.

Reviews of Hillarys Yacht Club, Spinnakers cafe, The Great Escape & Mia Cucina to name a few have been left out yet are popular dining destinations in the Harbour.

In our view the article would be best called "Food and Drink at Sorrento Quay Boardwalk". For details of restaurants and cafes at Sorrento Quay Boardwalk go to sqb.com.au . For Hillarys Boat Harbour go to hillarysboatharbour.com.au .

Thanks

I can understand how someone from Melbourne would think Perth food establishments are overpriced. There are several contributing factors that I am aware of: some food has to travel further (from the eastern states - not everything can be sourced locally), waitstaff are harder to find due to a large proportion of the young workforce following the mining boom (restaurants have to offer higher wages to attract staff) and rents are higher than in the east, forcing up restaurant prices.

In regards to this article, it seems to be less about the worst of Perth and more about the author increasing the click rate to articles he has already written.

Hippo Creek breakfasts are as good as you will find anywhere.

FAB is overpriced and reminds me very much of a very expensive Macas

Try Fubar on high street in Fremantle's west end. Good service, less pricey and friendly. All 3 girls are great technicians but what I like is that they don't put on airs and swan around in black clothing.
Owner is Sharon who does mine and I think she's great.

Visited Hillary's a couple of years ago for breakfast on a Saturday morning. It was an awesome way to start my weekend. I'd recommend this place to anyone.

The Brook Bar and Bistro in Ellenbrook has a kids corner on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5.30 pm till 8.30 pm and they do drawing, a craft and play games with the kids ... Also on a Sunday morning kids corner starts at 8 am and they have a face painter .... Oh and the best thing is that kids eat free on a Monday night!

LOVE Kakulas Bros in Northbridge - amongst all the great healthy and whole foods options, I can't help but treat myself to some chocolate cover macadamia nuts - yum! :)

The Atrium at the Burswood is DIVINE. I am originally a Perth girl and it's a must stop, whenever I'm visiting the West.

This is my fave restaurant in perth. Had my 17th, there, my 21st there. Lots of family, friend get togethers. No longer live in Perth but always go to the Atrium when I'm in town. Thanks for this article!

we have a 4 year old who is very athletic and has been riding a bicycle since he's been 21/2 years old and he only begs for a motor bike. Which would be the safest option? I did purchase the razor but when it came I realized it was not really safe for his age.

I don't usually take pickled ginger. but after reading what you have to say about it, I think I'll be giving it another try the next time in at a Japanese restaurant.

A Korean restaurant named Ninniku Jip in Victoria Park. They have indoor playground with a glassed wall so parents can watch their children play whilst enjoying a glass or two with friends and families. It is a big restaurant and fully licensed.

Believe it or not, I recently had one of the most delicious pies I have ever tasted on a Qantas flight from Newman to Perth in cattle class. It was a chicken variety with big chunks of meat held in a firm tasty sauce (not glutinous) which was easy to eat in the cramped surroundings. The pastry was crisp - much better than you would expect for an airline re-heated item. I got the manufacturer from the packet - Temptations Bakeries. Unfortunately they are in Victoria and only supply the Eastern States unless you order in bulk direct. However, look out for them on Qantas.

Great recommendations - thanks :) just a note though - if you are out hills / Kalamunda way - instead of the High Wycombe Tavern (their bouncy castle is in the car park - not so great for watching / supervising your little ones) check out the new Boab Tavern - they have kids gift bags and an $8 kids menu (meal, drink & icecream) every lunch & dinner + Sunday lunches they have Cater for Kids come in to entertain the littlies with all sorts of fun activities -www.boabtavern.com.au

great review, the duck pizza is a winner for me. Not tried their dessert pizzas but I really might have to. Made me hungry reading it.

My family visited the Maze whilst staying at Busselton over Easter and we all found it entertaining and of good quality. It is a challenge to complete the maze. The kids got immersed in the free indoor puzzles in the cafe which are also of high quality and requiring thinking. And nothing is electronic.
The place is enthusiastically run by the owner/designer and his family.
Highly recommended.

We have had the discussion many times at pubs that when salad is put into a steak sandwich isnt it then a steakburger rather than a Steak sandwich. Some traditionalist also suggest it should only be in toast.

Wow! These look amazing, especially the Raspberry Dream. Any chance they'll open a shop in Melbourne? I love Perth but a 4 hour flight for a crepe is a bit extreme, even for a fabulous crepe.

It's nice that you have noticed and appreciated the old park. As an ex- Two Rocks resident I do feel that it is a shame to bring attention to the place. The wildlife within enjoy a reasonably quiet existence as does the rare flora that you have so openly mentioned. Perhapes it won't be around for much longer now? I have strolled it, and just hope that the hidden animals remain just that, and not fun for tourists to harrass.
