Registrations are now open for the Independent and Peaceful Australia Network (IPAN) Forum and Conference to be held in Brisbane on the 8th and 9th July.IPAN is a network of organisations from across Australia, united in support of an independent Australian foreign policy based on peaceful resolution of conflicts.The public is invited to attend a forum on Wednesday 8th July, 2015 entitled 'Dangerous Allies' at The Edge, State Library of Qld, South Brisbane and the annual conference event on Thursday 9th July 2015 at Qld Council of Unions. The forum presents a critique of the Australia-US alliance and will address why our "Dangerous Allies" are threatening our security and why we need an independent and peaceful national agenda.Keynote speakers include Senator Scott Ludlam, Prof. Richard Tanter, Director of the Nautilus Institute and Kozue Akibayashi, President of WILPF.The forum will run from 6.30pm to 8.30pm and entry is priced $10pp. Click here to register. The forum is complemented by the IPAN National Conference 2015 the next day. This one-day event will feature an insightful programme of Panel Discussions and Information Workshops.Highlights of the programme include a public meeting with Roz Maclennan, Prof Kozue Akibayashi, Senator Scott Ludlam, Prof. Richard Tanter, and others.Workshop topics include:Indigenous Rights under a military "umbrella"Environmental impacts of the US Alliance Economic impacts of the alliance, including the TPPUS installations on Australian soilWomens role in peace buildingThe IPAN Annual General Meeting will conclude the event.The conference will run from 9am to 5pm and entry is priced $20 or $15 unwaged.
