Popular Peruvian grill, cevicheria and pisco bar
Pastuso , which boasts a menu that is redolent with the the flavours, spices and dishes from the Andean mountains through to the Amazon jungle, has teamed up with another Melbourne success story to bring a new food offering to the streets of Melbourne.
Collingwood's favourite bakery,
Gontran Cherrier , has partnered with Pastuso to provide specially created egg yolk bread, to form the base for a new range of Peruvian style sandwiches.
Resulting from a recent research trip by Chef Alejandro Saravia to Peru, the new sandwich range celebrates Peruvian street food. "We are bringing the flavour of the streets of Peru with this new lunch offering at Pastuso. Our Peruvian sandwiches promise to be tasty, quick and great value," says Alejandro.
Options include
pan con chicharron with double-cooked pork, grilled sweet potato, pickled onions and fermented chili sauce. Or take it smoky with
Lomito with smoked beef rib, coriander and red cabbage slaw, and lemon and mint sauce. Chicken lovers will enjoy the
pan con pollo with chicken marinated in dark beer and Peruvian spices, green cabbage slaw and spicy Peruvian pepper sauce.
The fillings will change regularly to keep it interesting.
All sandwiches will be
priced at $16, and they are available between
12 noon and 3.00pm seven days.
This change to the lunch menu is just the first of many exciting developments Pastuso is planning for 2017. For example on 1st April, Pastuso will present
Carnivale , a one-off special event for the
Melbourne Food and Wine Festival . Pastuso will be transformed with contemporary art to create a vibrant atmosphere in which to enjoy a diversity of Peruvian cuisine.
Pastuso is located at
19 ACDC Lane, Melbourne. It is
open seven days from 12 noon until late. For any enquiries, call (03) 9662 4556, or email
