Paragliding (not to be confused with parasailing) is one of the easiest and quickest ways to emancipate terrestrial bondage.
Inflate your canopy , get your bearings, and then take a step off the precipice towards the ocean.
Whilst Parasailing offers a more controlled experience, paragliding gives more freedom, allowing for self-directed exploration.
The basic idea is to use the paragliding sail as a cross between a hang-gliding wing and a parachute. Technically you are descending but at a greatly reduced rate. This allows for extended time in the air but does not require any extra energy to be put into the system.
The most popular place around Sydney to learn paragliding is
Stanwell Park . It is accessible via train and lies south of
Royal National Park and North of Wollongong. Stanwell park is a picturesque beach-side town with a small population and nice big cliffs to launch from.
The best way to start paragliding is by taking a tandem flight. They are all around the same price: $250-$300. This gets you half-an-hour in the air and is much akin to tandem skydiving. Sydney paragliding will also let you try out manoeuvring and handling the controls to see if you would like to pursue this further.
If you have had other experience in
skydiving /
hang-gliding , there are a number of short courses that allow you to get speedily accredited. There is a list of them
here .
