Panda & Co. Cafe

Pandas have done a lot for western pop culture. Firstly, we had the hilarity of Sexual Harassment Panda in South Park (Sad Panda, anyone?). Then, there was clumsy but lovable Po in Kung Fu Panda. Around the same time, we saw Tugg Speedman in Tropic Thunder have a not-so-fortunate run in with a panda. More recently, we were subjected to the ridiculous, incoherent mess of a "song" entitled Panda by Desiigner (I use the word *song* loosely, and I hope for the sake of humanity there are still people out there who have not been suffered through it and therefore will not understand this reference). And, for those of you cool kids into memes, we all know how pandas lovingly deconstructed racism by being black, white and Asian. As you can see, pandas are quite the accomplished species.

Fast forward to today and pandas have overrun this fun-loving, cutesy cafe in North Perth, aptly-named Panda & Co. And when I say overrun, I mean there are pandas quite literally hanging from the ceiling.



Panda & Co are dishing up all kinds of goodies of the unashamedly declared 'inauthentic Asian' variety, and some seriously quality coffee. The menu is essentially broken down into 'Munchies', 'Belly Fillers' and of course, the 'Drinks'.



With the Munchies, you're looking at an assortment of Bao including fillings like soft shell crab, pork belly and glazed tofu. Plus, there is a sneaky Smashed Avocado dish thrown in just for fun because realistically, no menu in 2017 seems to be complete without it.

The Belly Fillers are an equally inventive bunch with dishes like Crispy Coffee Glazed Brioche with nutella foam, pistachios and pop rocks (*swoon!*), Singaporean Chilli Crab Linguine, and curious little Brekky Puffs. The fun never stops! Come see for yourself, the menu is #menu ">here .



To me, a Drinks menu is almost always entirely underrated - THIS is where the real magic happens. This Iced Mocha is what dreams are made of (my dreams, anyway). You won't find boring, garden-variety choc/berry/vanilla shakes here - think instead of Marshmallow, Salted Caramel and Popcorn that taste like a big cup of liquid hopes and rainbows. Plus, Vietnamese Coffee for the win!



Also, be sure to swing past the counter and see what fresh goodies are lurking around on the day you pop by. My visit featured brioche donuts crammed with cream cheese and honeycomb soft enough to be fit for a pillow, were it not practically inhaled the minute it was set down on the table.



Be sure to head down early as understandably, it gets pretty busy! Besides, who wouldn't want to cuddle up to one of these fluffy, little guys over a cuppa? And on the off-chance this wasn't enough cuteness for your day then head on over to their Instagram here , the staff are an absolute hoot.
