Once upon a time when Pancakes On The Rocks was only located at The Rocks, we had to wait in line for a seat. Nowadays, you can find the ever-popular Pancakes On the Rocks at suburban venues without the queue. YAY!

We were on our way back to Sydney and stopped for some petrol when we saw the big 'Pancakes On the Rocks' sign. We decided to have a light supper there before continuing our drive back to the city.

There is always something for everyone at Pancakes on the Rocks. We decided to have the juicy beef ribs. Service was fast and efficient; soon after we placed our orders the food had arrived. We had big chunks of tender, juicy beef ribs grilled in BBQ sauce served with golden potato wedges and side salad. Looking at it made us hungry instantaneously.

The ribs were so well-marinated and perfectly grilled - the meat literally fell of the bones and the flavour was spot on. The wedges were so-so, merely for decorations I think.

My friend and I did a comparison and agreed that Hurricane at Bondi Beach still has the Best Ribs in our books, but these were still pretty good ribs.

Our next main was the Mexican Savoury Pancakes - potato & onion pancakes served with spicy, Mexican beef sauce, sour cream, guacamole and tomato salsa ($16.95). It was nice but a let down for me. They were skimpy with all the toppings in comparison to the size of the pancakes. Towards the end, we still had a whole pancake to go without any conidment toppings.

The taste was not at all special and personally I would give it a miss. It was quite a filling dish and we could not finish it.

I thought about my 'mean' chili con-carne recipe and how that spices up the dish entirely. When I get my act together, and it's not as hot as today, I told my friend to come over and try my Mexican Chili con carne - guaranteed to ask for seconds. (I'll save that for another article)

There were 5 major birthday parties/big group functions/large family gatherings happening at the restaurant and people were excited and happy.

We saw many sweet pancakes coming out of the kitchen. Each looked stunning and very tempting but unfortunately we were all carbed-up and could not eat another bite, so we had to give desserts a miss this time. I looked longingly at the Devil's Delight - my favourite pancake here - and it gleefully laugh at me for missing out. Oh, you mean old devil!

This is a great family restaurant to take the hungry little ones. All looked happy and content with a surge of sugar-highs. Staff were very tolerant of the 'enthusiastic' children and adults.

The drive back to Sydney was cool and pleasant, marking a beautiful end to a very fun weekend.
