Palace Nova Eastend Cinemas is one of few movie theatres which remain in Adelaide's city centre. As its name suggests there is actually two cinemas which are operated under the same name. but at different locations. The Nova is located on the south side of Rundle Street at number 250, while the Palace is found just across the street, on the north side, off 251 Rundle Street.
Conveniently located the cinemas allow for close, but rather expensive, parking in the Rundle Street UPark or, if you are lucky enough a street park along, East terrace or Rundle Street itself.
In addition to new release and box office films, the Palace Nova differs from other cinemas as it screens a variety of other types of films. Arthouse and contemporary films as well as those from film festivals, including Adelaide's own, are frequently featured.
You'll find the majority of new releases and box office films at the Palace, but make sure you check which side of Rundle Street your movie is on before you leave. Though, the short distance between the two means you won't miss the beginning if you turn up at the wrong location.
Ticket prices are similar to any other cinema but for frequent movie goers it is worth joining the movie club for $19 to receive $12.50 tickets for an entire year. For people on a budget, especially Uni students like me, Mondays are the best time to see a movie at the Palace Nova. Every Monday they have the cheapest tickets in Adelaide; it's just seven dollars before four o'clock then eight dollars for the rest of the night.
An added perk of the Palace Nova is that both cinemas are fully licensed, so you can enjoy a drink while waiting for your session time.
For something other than your typical American blockbuster the Palace Nova is the best place to visit and if you just want to see the newest flicks, such as the Hangover Part II, on Adelaide's biggest screen they also have you covered.
