If you are interested in learning how to paint or develop further your artistic skills or you may have an unfulfilled artistic flair you wish to explore, then an opportunity awaits you in the form of Paint in the Pub Workshops at The Oxford Hotel, O'Connell Street, North Adelaide on 3rd and 17th November at 6.45 pm.

In a unique and friendly environment, wannabee artists can gather together over a glass or two to explore and share ideas, as well as develop and enhance their artistic skills.

The workshops are conducted by art tutors, Elspeth McKeller Elspeth McKeller and Cynthia Schwertsik.

Elspeth McKeller has studied costume making and is currently studying fine arts. She is passionate about classical art and naturalistic portraiture and is continually learning methods of painting and drawing to create. She works with an encouraging approach and is enthusiastic about sharing her skills with budding artists.

She is enthusiastic about sharing her skills with participants. Her aim is to help beginners maintain composition and develop further their creativity and ideas. Under her direction, participants will benefit from her straight forward style, which is easy to follow, allowing them to effectively enhance their own flair and ideas.

Cynthia Schwertsik is enthusiastic about sharing her skills with workshop participants. She is passionate about classical art and naturalistic portraiture and is constantly learning the classical methods of painting and drawing to create contemporary/relevant paintings.

About five years ago, Cynthia moved from Vienna to South Australia, and is still easing into the local art community, which has been her lifelong career, with her transition from dance and set design to painting. She is a member of the Adelaide Hills art group, The Artist Voice, and regularly exhibits at Hahndorf Academy with further exhibits at the RSASA, The Barn in Stirling, and at Port Adelaide Festival.

How do the Pub Workshops work?

The group meets at the Oxford Hotel thirty minutes before the workshop begins. This gives budding artists time to prepare their workspace, purchase their drink and snacks and relax as they get to know the other participants, before the workshop commences.

What does the workshop offer?

Participants are provided with a stretch canvas, paints and brushes to use along with painting tuition for approximately 2 and 1/2 hours. At the close of the workshop, cleanup is done and followed with time to relax and share ideas and experiences.
Participants must be 18 years and above. However, there are plans underway whereby Julie will be offering painting workshops for children who are budding artists. For further details please contact Julie.

Participants will leave with their completed canvas and a satisfied feeling of achievement whilst having a good time along with some laughs.

Participants are invited to enjoy a special meal at The Oxford Hotel before the workshops commence for $20. This is available on the night. You just need to mention you are a member of the Paint in the Pub Workshop.

With their relaxed atmosphere, the Paint in the Pub Workshops are ideal for small groups as team building exercises. And as Christmas is nearly here, gift vouchers will make an excellent gift.
