Page 8 is a cafe and gift and book shop in
Main Street, Mornington.
Taking up less than half the floor space is a comfortable, chic casual cafe. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is good. The menu is simple, based around healthy sandwiches and rolls, sumptous cakes and biscuits and of course the ritualistic urban liquid refreshment. Homemade cakes and biscuits are located at eye level when you go to order; of these, the hummingbird cake stands out as soft and fluffy and the flourless lemon cake and the orange and almond cupcakes are dainty luxuries.
The sandwiches are made on big thick slices bread and their fillings are fresh. Salads and other great lunchtime foods are there for you to peruse and enjoy.
Whilst the cafe is lively with chatter, the gift and card side of the shop is always filled with a browsing flow. This relaxed little shop is filled with big big coffee table books, great travel books, novels, eco notebooks and journals. There are some unique kitchen gifts and cook books.
There are bags for any occasion; handbags, totes and
built bags. Handmade jewellery and lovely accessories for Mum.
I love to browse here. Some favourites include the soft globe made by Hugg a Planet and paper globes by Material selection, which I personally love.
At the back of the store is a childrens section that has some really great childrens books. There are also toys which must all be specially chosen. My favorite during this visit was the eco paperchains by abdesigns and the dinga ring, made with love in Byron Bay by
Meemoh..
