Sydney shopping is fun and fast. I love the Saturday morning and Paddington Markets. First, its coffee and/or breakfast at a local cafe, then its a stroll across to the Paddington school yard and one of the best markets you could come across.
Paddington is 3 kilometres from Sydney City, either out Darlinghurst Road, or via the great Sydney
public transport system. Their buses run frequently and are a great way to travel around a large city with lots of traffic or if your keen, you can walk from the City through Darlinghurst to Paddington for a bit of exercise and browse the great boutiques, bookshops and cafes as you go.
The Paddington Markets has so much to wander through. Much of what is sold is handmade and definitely Australian made. Blended in are exotic arts and crafts imported from far off destinations, retro chic and all types of clothing.
Paddington Markets fashion is said to be some of the best to be found around. Forget the big labels, handmade silk dress, blouses and linen ware. Known as the place to find the next "emerging" designer, Paddington is a lovely place to find clothes that are stylish, individual well crafted and casual Sydney chic.
Lunch could be Himalayan kebabs with inspired salad (there is always a queue of people there). Fresh, wholesome and healthy the smoothy stall, tea and coffee, cool drinks and other great foods to feast upon.
The front of the market is filled with the colours of nature with potted flowers and plants, herbs and wonderful bunches of the best seasonal flowers you could find.
Jewellery, accessories, clothing, tote bags, wood work, art, condiments and kitchenware. I know, its only shopping, yet much of what is there is handcrafted, individually designed, fun a unique and of superb quality.
