So you say you are not a cruise person. That is okay, not everyone is. But would you be willing to give it a go for a couple of days? If so, have I got the perfect way to go for you.

This is a short getaway that will leave you feeling like you have been on a good long, restful vacation. A few days on P&O's Pacific Aria will leave you feeling like you have left everything behind.

With the convenience of the website you can see and plan before you even get on board as to what you want to do.

This particular trip that we did was their food and wine tour. There were classes you could sign up for once on board which included wine and food pairings, cocktail making, beer tasting, just to name a few.

You can reserve at Luke Mangan's Salt grill and another lovely restaurant called Dragon Lady. The key is to book as soon as you get there then there is no issue with getting what you want. Within 5 minutes we had booked 3 different tastings, and dinner in 2 different restaurants and we were done.

A look at the itinerary online allows you to make sure that you have your party gear sorted as well. The White Party Friday night, complete with beautiful outfits and then the Gatsby party Saturday night with everyone decked out in feathered headgear, fringe, fedoras and suspenders made for stunning spectacles.

Before you go you can park at Portside and Brisbane Airport Parking. It is 100 metres from the ferry terminal and undercover. Booking online gets you a discount.

The terminal itself is efficient and takes only a short time to get through to the ship.

Once you are on board, find your cabin, book your events and restaurants then head up on deck so you can watch the passage of the ship as it leaves the port. It makes its way under the Gateway Bridge and out to the bay where your tour will take you along the coastline and back (at least on this particular cruise).

Introduced last year, the Pantry replaces buffet style eating and has several kiosks to choose from. The food is diverse and divine. And it is especially good not having to cook for 3 days.

Whether you like lounging on the deck with coffee in hand, sitting in a quiet nook with a book, listening to the bells and whistles of the slot machines, the screams of glee from the flying fox, or tucked into a secluded corner somewhere, there is space for so many moods. Then there is the indoor gym, the Marquee for entertainment, the pools, one for adults and one for kids to splash around in all day.

There are musicians, golfing competitions in the atrium, photos, shopping, and wine tasting at the Cellar door.

There is nothing for you to do, but what you want. Moms can go and enjoy just hanging out with their families, no cooking or cleaning to be done. There are various trivia and bingo games going on. There are places to watch sporting matches, places to walk or to do yoga by yourself.

To cruise the coast line is to see the stars, the sunrise, the sunset and to see whales in season.

This is a good way to introduce yourself to something new, and cruising with P&O Cruises on the Pacific Aria is a well spent 3 day weekend.
