Looking at the date of the Christmas lights switch-on in
Oxford Street, it appears that store owners in central London are keen to get everyone into the festive spirit as soon as possible.
The switch-on is taking place earlier than ever this year - 1st November. That's even before Guy Fawkes Night has taken place.
Thanks to the global recession though, it's been a dire summer for many traders, so they'll want to try to push Christmas sales as soon as they possibly can. So why not help them out?
Oxford Street's switch-on event gets bigger and better every year, with more events planned and more lights adorning the streets every year.
Organisers always have a celebrity or three on hand to press
the magic button, with the big switch this year located outside the Marks & Spencer store closest to Marble Arch.
To make the night that little bit more special, you'll be able to enjoy a number of live music events and other entertainment along Oxford Street, making it a fun evening out for the whole family.
You'll have until 5th January to enjoy viewing the Christmas lights, but the most exciting evening will, of course, be 1st November as you'll be able to enjoy all the extra events taking place along the street.
And remember, it's not only lights
outside, along the street, that will be adding some extra colour to London's most famous shopping street. Stores like John Lewis are also making a big effort, with abseilers working hard to put up lots of decorations and lights around its six-floor atrium. So be sure to explore Oxford Street inside and out to see the best of the decorations, and perhaps make a few purchases while you're at it.
