It's just off the main north road, right on the edge of the North Pine River in the suburb of Griffin. I pass frequently and remind myself that I want to visit. Often. At last, I did! I followed the signs from the motorway, onto Dohles Rocks Road and easily found the Centre.

It is a wonderful Osprey House Environmental Centre with so much information about the wildlife that live in and around the river.

There's plenty to see, explore and learn at the Centre. Outside there are boardwalks through the mangroves and other trees with a range of birds and animals to see as you wander. You might be fortunate enough to see an osprey nesting nearby, or perhaps one of the resident koala's will appear.

It is a popular venue for school groups and bus tours – all delightfully catered for with outdoor seating areas, an amphitheatre, and indoors, is a lovely theatrette which shows video stories about the area.

The centre is where volunteers, who love nature, are willing to share the information they have and explain much of what is on display.

Folk of all ages are catered for, and they have ramps to make it easy to access for those in wheelchairs or not able to manage the stairs.
Indoors or outdoors – there is so much to see, so much to learn.

The Centre is open 7 days a week and entry is free.

Just a little further along Dohles Rocks Road, there is a bird hide – overlooking a small lake that has a range of birds – either swimming or quietly contemplating life on the edge.
