Lies Lies and Propaganda in collaboration with Suspicious Woman Productions present Orpheus, playing at the Blood Moon Theatre. The size of the stage poses a challenge for the actors, but they effectively turn the small stage into a seated area for theatregoers and use the space of the room to tell the story.

Based on the ancient legend of Orpheus and Eurydice, Director Michael Dean puts a creative spin on the ancient tragedy. The opening scene sets in a small country town pub where flannelette wearing rowdy women are drinking beers, when city boy Orpheus (Daniel Monks) walks in. He is trying to reclaim his wife Eurydice and bring her back home. The town sheriff and bar owner Hades (Michael Yore) is not too keen on the idea and makes a stance for her to stay put.

The show is engaging in every sense. The characters are quirky and use unusual and creative movement as opposed to a lot of spoken dialogue to tell the story. There is so much to look at and absorb that it makes it near impossible to explain - you just HAVE to go and see it for yourself! For a night of entertaining, unpredictable independent theatre with exceptionally talented actors check out Orpheus - you will not be disappointed.
