Swan Barracks is an old army barracks converted into a huge hostel in the heart of Perth. I lived here for over two months and have to say that I was more than impressed with all aspects of the accommodation. This hostel excels in cleanliness, friendliness and above all, entertainment. They have a huge bar area with a TV room, big couches and discounted beers for guests and tourists alike.

They have various themed nights each week, such as their quiz night, occasional karaoke night, movie night, beer and burger night, and monthly competition based nights. This means that as a guest here, you're never at a loose end for something to do, and it's easy to meet new travellers and makes friends fast, in a comfortable environment.

The rates are excellent considering the prime location of the barracks, just a 10 minute work from Perth CBD. There are a number or room options, from four bed to 12 bed, with 12 bed dorms starting at $24 per night. The owner was incredibly fair and friendly as he refunded my payment for a week after I was ushered into a farming job and had to leave the next morning.

I would 100% recommend this hostel to backpackers, tourists and locals alike if they are planning a weekend in Perth.
