If you love beer and salty meats then it's time to dust of the
lederhosen as Oktoberfest comes to Sydney.
Not quite to the scale that sees millions of visitors descend on
Munich, Oktoberfest celebrations across Sydney are growing in size and popularity. It's now possible to attend an event at a different location each weekend across October.
The
Concordia Club in Tempe kicks off the Oktoberfest season on the 25th September. Renowned for its excellent pork knuckle, vienna schnitzel, and it's extensive beer list, the club will be celebrating until the 5th October. There is a small entrance fee, and use must pay for what you eat and drink.
The
German-Austrian Society will once again host Oktoberfest over the October long weekend (3rd – 5th) at Fairfield Showground. Celebrating 40 years since they first hosted the first event, visitors will be treated to German bands, merry-go-rounds, folk dancing, international foods, and of course beer and schnapps. Entry is $16 for adults, $11 for children over 12 and pensions. Kids under 12 are free. Drinks and food are extra.
If you can find a driver, then don't forget to include
German Club in Wollongong. Steins will be raised from 16th to the 18th of October, and organisers have put together an excellent line-up of entertainment for the whole family. There will be rock 'n roll dancers, singing competitions, 'um-pah-pah' bands and lots of food and drink. Kids under 15 are free.
Even
Star City is getting into the Oktoberfest spirit with festivities in the Garden Buffet from 18 September to 22 October 2009.
And if all that isn't enough,
Löwenbräu Keller, will be celebrating with great food and German beers throughout October, table bookings are essential.
Yudlayeeeooo!
