I've been very slack with my reviews of late...largely because I really haven't been anywhere noteworthy enough to review! Today however I thought I'd finally get back on the bandwagon and let you all know about - at what they like to call Hamilton to make it sound more upmarket but really guys, check your postcode, its Eagle Farm!

Postcode confusion aside Northshore is actually a lovely little cafe in a very pleasant location.

On a beautiful sunny day it really is quite lovely sitting looking across the river whilst enjoying a coffee (or a glass of wine!)

The staff of Northshore all were quite friendly and helpful. Currently I think the cafe is a bit of an undiscovered gem location wise. Once the Hamilton Reach apartment complex is complete I'm sure this will change but for the most part the cafe was fairly quiet for a Sunday Lunch.

Which leads me of course to the important part - the food!

The food is overall quite nice but I do think at this stage you are definitely paying for the location. I ordered the quinoa salad which, with its inclusions of egg and feta were quite tasty. Not quite sure I got the sweet tomato dressing part though, there was tomato which was nice but a dressing was definitely what I felt was lacking from the dish as a whole. It was however still quite enjoyable and presented nicely

My partner went for the pulled pork burger with apple slaw and chips. I must confess if I was eating at Northshore I'd be inclined to order this as I did have a bit of food envy towards his plate. The pork was juicy and quite tasty and the chips were definitely yummy. My only fault on this dish was that there was a lot of meat and not a lot of slaw but I suppose some would probably consider this a positive! The other downside on this one I really feel was price $22.50 for a glorified hamburger is a bit much, I've definitely paid less for better, but once again I guess you are paying for that view.

So all in all I think is a noteworthy work in progress. The food is well above average and the location is great and sometime soon they might just work their way up to a reputation and a menu that will allow them to command the prices they are evidently hoping to attract. This coupled with their impressive functions offering suggests to me this is definitely one to watch - maybe it could one day be the next Brett's Wharf!
