Markets are loved by many and luckily there are markets aplenty in Sydney. No matter how many you've been to, if you find some more, you're sure to go, because we know the possibilities are endless when it comes to finding unique and interesting clothes, books, art, jars of jam, and all the rest of that good stuff you get to peruse at the stalls.
On the 2nd Saturday of every month (except January) the North Sydney Market is held between 9am and 3pm in Miller St, North Sydney. If you're not using public transport, you'll be glad to hear there's heaps of free parking in the Ridge St car park just next door. The 1st floor of the Ridge St car park is also where you'll find the markets shuffled to if the weather turns sour, so rain, hail or shine the markets can happily carry on.
With over 120 stalls to wow us with their treasures, as well as
Changeable Art and live entertainment, you will definitely want to chuff along to North Sydney Market.
Some of the wares and fare on offer are the ever reliable and always appreciated arts and crafts, bric-a-brac, books, CDs, antiques, kitchenware, small pieces of furniture, clothes, jewellery, prints and frames. Food-wise, to fill up your tummy and satisfy your lunching needs, there will be something to please from the hot food stalls filled with delights from many a multicultural cuisine. As well as coffee, tea, fresh lemonade and other tasty beverages to tote around with you while you look. Then be sure to take some of the freshly baked cakes, pies, jars of jam, preserves and honey home with you to remember you're lovely day at the market.
As if that array isn't enough, you can also find freshly cut flowers, herbs and plants to take home and nurture. However, if you're in the mood for some nurturing yourself, then you can partake in the massage treatments and reflexology that are on offer too.
The North Sydney Market is held in conjunction with Changeable Art. A diverse and dynamic art space located in the North Sydney Community Centre, which works as a public gallery the 2nd Saturday of each month also. It has given established and emerging artists and designers a space to showcase their outstanding works and designs since it's opening on the 14th of July 2007. It also gives the local and broader community a chance to purchase unique and affordable artworks from super talented artists.
Once you've had a wander through the wonderful art world, you can enjoy some of the live entertainment provided to the crowds between 11am and 1pm.
With all that in mind, what's not to love about these marvellous markets? So get your tush out and about to experience all they have to offer.
