Twenty minutes north of Brisbane, past the winding Pine River is a not so sleepy village with a not so sleepy community. Just off the highway, nestled between Mango Hill, Murrumba Downs and Kallangur is North Lakes, the exciting and vibrant north side hub.

And North Lakes is about to get a whole lot more exciting, with a number of major developments, including a brand new, sparkling 'Entertainment Precinct' at the Westfield Shopping Centre.

With so much going on here, it's easy to lose track but I am here to help you find your way and get excited about the new and improved North Lakes.

Furthermore to the existing Westfield Shopping Centre, Costco ( what is Costco? ), golf course and of course the lakes themselves, some of the new attractions for this north side community will include:

IKEA
This Swedish megastar (and no, I'm not talking about ABBA) is unleashing Brisbane's second store, here at North Lakes.



Construction officially started in May 2015, which will see this retail giant being linked to the existing Westfield via a fresh new connecting shopping mall.

This superstore will have everything you expect from the IKEA brand with its market hall, showroom and warehouse and let's not forget the meatballs from the eatery!

Westfield Shopping Centre Developments

Restaurant & Entertainment Precinct
Destined to be the new social hub of the north side with the addition of cinemas and a restaurant precinct to Westfield North Lakes, this development is sure to excite all of the locals.

The distinct lack of cinema options in this area will thankfully be rectified with an 8 screen Event Cinema. And now, with the option of enjoying a meal at a number of new restaurants before or after the latest blockbuster, this will become the place to be on the weekends.
Ready, set, popcorn. Cinemas are expected to open early 2016.

And for the foodies: there are some super exciting food options coming, including Grill'd, San Churro Chocolateria (that made my mouth water just writing it) and The Groove Train just to give you a taste. Set your tastebuds free, November 2015.



New Playground
Kids will be happy to be dragged along shopping now with a brand new, outdoor kids play area. Inspired by our beautiful coastline and the Moreton Bay Region, the new playground will be a whole new colourful world to be explored by kids of all ages. With plenty of shade cover and bright play equipment, there will be something to engage everyone!

Fresh Food Marketplace
Supersize me, Coles! This local supermarket is being upgraded to be one of the biggest Coles on the north side of Brisbane. And if that is not tantalising enough for your grocery needs, a number of new and exciting specialty stores will make up this fresh, convenient and vibrant Marketplace.

Grab a basket because some of the new stores opening in November, are: Pacific Catch Seafood, Degani (catch up and grab a coffee) and The Fruit & Deli Co plus a few oldies but goodies: Rosita Flowers and Willow's Butcher Shop.

North Lakes Town Centre and Business Park
Another win for the shopaholics in all of us, as the new 'retail/commercial park' adjacent to the existing Masters is expecting some of these big hitters: The Good Guys, Super Amart (open now), Pillow Talk, Super Cheap Auto and Baby Bunting. And that is just stage 1!



With all these additions to the North Lakes area, it is sure to become a retail and entertainment mecca for the north side and I can't wait!
