It's pretty standard to see people running, swimming or cycling on any given weekend at Noosa. But seeing someone do all three on the same day without stopping in between? It must be the
Noosa Triathlon Multisports Festival. Taking place from Wednesday 27 October to Sunday 31 October and culminating in the world famous Noosa Triathlon, the festival offers something for everyone from the serious athlete to the serious spectator.
The sport starts on Wednesday 27 October with the Endura Noosa Run Swim Run. This multisport event is open to all ages and features 2 short runs broken up by a swim. Kids aged between 7 – 12 run 500 metres then swim 200 metres and finally run for another 500 metres. If you're older than 13 you have to run and swim a little further, 1.5 kilometres on foot, 750 metres in the water and finish it off with another 1.5 kilometres on foot. Other weekday sports fun includes the Tour De Noosa, a chance to ride the course used for the bike leg of the Noosa Triathlon and the Breakfast Fun Run
The Noosa 1000 Ocean Swim on Friday afternoon is another event open to all ages and abilities and is a 1 kilometre swim through the calm waters of Laguna Bay. Rub shoulders with Commonwealth Games and Olympic swimmers during this event. For the kids, Saturday's Noosa Superkidz Triathlon is a chance to shine with short distances and a safe course. Kids 7 – 10 complete a 100 metre swim, 3 kilometre bike ride and a 500 metre run. For slightly older kids (aged 11 – 13), the course is a 200 metre swim, 5 kilometre bike ride and 1 kilometre run.
Spectating rather than sweating more your style? There's plenty to keep you occupied at the Noosa Triathlon Multisports Festival that won't require the wearing of lyrca and swim caps. Ignoring the elite sport for a moment, the Festival Village Fiesta is the place to be. Face painting and a treasure hunt for the kids, jugglers and stilt walkers and the Clovelly Estate Waiter's Challenge to keep the whole family occupied.
The Seven Noosa Sport and Lifestyle Expo and the Really Good Food Festival takes place on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the festival. Emma Snowsill and other triathlon stars will be in attendance at the sport and lifestyle expo and wannabe triathletes can get all the latest gear for their adventures. Focusing on healthy food that tastes yummy, the Really Good Food Festival will have cooking demonstrations and discussions on losing and gaining weight, as well as what to eat when you're exercising.
The main event of the weekend is the Noosa Triathlon taking place from 6:30am on Sunday and featuring elite national and international athletes who will fight it out for victory over a 1500 metre swim, 40 kilometre cycle leg and 10 kilometre run.
Roads will be closed around Noosa during the events of the Noosa Triathlon Multisports Festival and parking is also limited. It is recommended that spectators use
public transport to get to event venues.
