Newport Beach is located on Sydney's northern beaches between Bungan Beach to the South and Bilgola Plateau to the north. It is located approximately 40 minutes from Sydney CBD and is easily accessible by bus and car and caters to all age groups. There is a large carpark right next to the beach and also plenty of street parking nearby.

There are BBQ facilities as well as a children's playground and plenty of shops, supermarkets, cafes and restaurants are nearby. The beach is patrolled by beach inspectors and on the weekend volunteer lifesavers are on duty.

The 50 metre ocean pool at the southern end is a popular swimming spot for younger children who are not yet confident in the surf.

Newport Surf Life Saving club runs Nippers on Sunday mornings. Nippers is surf life saving for children aged between 5 and 13 years. The children not only learn about beach safety, but are also involved in beach races, beach relays, surf wade, running through shallow water and so much more.

Newport Beach is popular as it provides access to most water sports including yachting, surfing, scuba diving and windsurfing and if you are lucky you may even spot a whale or a pod of dolphins.

I am not really sure if I want to advertise this amazing beach...I like to keep it a secret!!!
Greenwich Bathes has to be THE most family friendly beach around.
It is small and completely fenced off so you cannot loose your children! Parents can actually relax as well!
This alone makes it fantastic, but add to the equation: a cafe, free beach toys, free lounges, shade (on the sand!) supplied by a beautiful big tree, cute small jellyfish to catch, shark net and swim lanes, grassed area, plenty of tables and chairs, no big crashing waves.
As you can see, it suits the younger children perfectly. But I have also taken two 12 year old boys and they liked it too.

Parking isn't too bad, bit busy on popular days. It is owned by council and run by Lane Cove aquatic pool staff so there is a small fee for upkeep, but you get groomed sand daily and lovely coffee. It closes in winter, but it makes it even more popular when September 1st rolls around!
Give it a go next sunny day (???)
But shhhhh! Dont tell anyone!

Clifton Gardens is another fabulous spot to take kids as there is a gr8 playground and bathroom facilities with showers to get the sand off your kids b4 you put them in the car and the beach doesn't have huge waves and there is a cafe down the end of the beach up a couple of steps and their coffee is really good and so are their muffins!

Where about is Clifton Gardens Sonia? Is it in Mosman? I am always looking for fun new places to visit.
