Street Food seems to be all the rage nowadays, and whilst I do still love a good sit down restaurant experience, I have also come to enjoy this new style - even more so when the food is high quality but the price is low.

This is exactly what you get at Neon "Asian Street Style" in Broadbeach - it offers modern asian fusion style food, at a very reasonable price, in easy to eat containers. They also only use local fresh produce which is all cooked and prepared fresh on site.

That's the idea of street food I guess, that the menu is small with a handful of simple - but tasty - dishes that you can either eat in quickly, or take away and eat on the go. I would certainly champion this style of freshly cooked food over unhealthy fast food, which would be around the same price, or perhaps even more.

I have been a few times now and each time I felt it was better. So far we have tried slow cooked beef with rice, which was just $10 - delicious tender beef in a homemade spicy sauce, served over plenty of rice.

We also had a chicken karaage don which is marinated deep fried chicken served on top of rice, garnished with mayo and shredded seaweed. This was one of the best things I have tasted. I loved the different flavours that complemented each other and it was a great size portion, cooked perfectly for just $11.

We also had the pork dumplings which are just 6 for $8. They took a little while to come out, however when the lady bought them to the table she said "sorry for the delay, but we cook from scratch and they are all made fresh". It is sad really when 10 minutes seems a long time to wait, but I guess we are all used to everything being so quick nowadays. I would of course rather my food is prepared and made fresh - it makes a real difference and the taste and texture was perfect. I also loved the friendly service and that the lady explained the wait.

With it being slightly cooler right now, this is the perfect winter warmer food that you could easily grab and take down to the beach or park to eat on a lunch break, early evening or after a few drinks at night. I also think it would be a great place to go on a casual date - without the pressure of a full sit down meal.

Located in Broadbeach, in the main pedestrian area, just next to McDonald's, there is outside tables and seating plus indoor bar style seating.

It is open seven days a week:
Mon – Thurs: 11:00am to 9:00pm
Fri – Sat: 11:00am to 10:00pm
Sunday: 11:00am to 9:00pm

Reviews and feedback of this place have been really positive, and I can see why. It's absolutely somewhere I shall be visiting often - delicious food, friendly service and cheap prices.
