Walking into
Nectar (
114 Boundary Street, West End), the phrase 'like a kid in a candy store' springs to mind. This boutique bottle store is the grown up version of a candy store – a place that stocks a mind blowing array of alcohol, with flavourings like cherry and chocolate.
Nectar is an owner operated business with a focus on craft varieties of beer, wine and cider (so no VB or Coolabah here). They currently stock the largest range of beers in Brisbane, with nearly 400 different varieties on the shelves, and are a leading supplier of international ciders. Nectar stocks high quality brands from local, national and international breweries, but the emphasis is on smaller Australian producers.
The West End store also passes the green test. Nectar provides its customers with organic tipples as well as a beer refill station. Purchase a reusable bottle for $5.00 and bring it with you to the Craft Beer Refill Station (read: keg) to refill. The kegs are rotated regularly so you can enjoy trying new beers as well as reducing the amount of materials being used. The cost of the refill depends on the brand of beer available on the day.
Nectar hosts food and wine nights and can provide a venue, catering and alcoholic refreshment for a range of different event types. For more information, check out their website.
Nectar is open to the public Tuesday through to Sunday from midday until 9.00pm, except for Friday and Saturday nights when it is open until 10.00pm.
