The NBA lockout continues and people all over the world are left with no American Basketball for what seems like the rest of the year. The only way to get a true NBA rush is through the new NBA 2K12 game which has been released for all platforms.

With the new Be a Legend mode, gamers can finally look to end the age old debate of who the best player, and team of all time are. Be Larry Bird and lead the Celtics to glory, produce sparks with Magic Johnson and watch as the Lakers decimate any and all opponents and play as the one and only Michael Jordan and relive the dynasty the Chicago Bulls created while watching all others lay at their feet. This amazing new feature is truly astonishing, and absolutely necessary in this year's game as no new draft picks, free agent purchases or trades are featured because of the lockout.

While players may feel discouraged to purchase the game as they will not be able to use any of their teams new draft picks, do not fear, as 2K Sports has promised that as soon as the lockout is finished the rosters will be updated to feature the new players added, or removed from your team.

The new online Franchise mode is a great addition, as it allows you to do all the things you have come to expect in the normal franchise mode, but in an online setting with mates or complete strangers. Create the ultimate team and dethrone the Mavericks, deflate the Heat or throw the Lakers from their pedestal.

A warning to previous players of the 2K franchise, the game play has altered noticeably. All changes however only add to the realistic, entertaining experience we have come to expect from the 2K games. It may take some getting used to but in the long run this game is quite a significant improvement from its predecessor. The free agency in Franchise mode has been revamped so be ready for a much harder negotiation process, and the introduction of mid season contract extensions provides the player with a much closer to the real thing experience. I give this game a 4/5, it is hard to fault the game other then the fans are left waiting for the new draft picks to be introduced to the game. Get it now, whatever the price because it will be the best decision a basketball fan could make.
