Each year, Australia's Naval Bands show their support for lost shipmates on ANZAC Day. For the Navy, ANZAC Day has a particular significance due to the number of sailors lost in World War One. Of the 61,966 Australian lives lost, many were sailors who were lost at sea, never to return home. These troops are particularly remembered this year, with the members of the Royal Australian Navy Band heading to Gallipoli to play an important role in the ANZAC Day Dawn Service, which will be broadcast on ABC 1 from 12:30pm. Joining the band in the musical presentation will be the choirs from All Hallows' School and St Joseph's, Gregory Terrace, Brisbane, who have been invited to sing at the service from now until 2015.

In Brisbane, the Royal Australian Navy Band Queensland Detachment will show their support at a number of events throughout Brisbane. Buglers will be in attendance at a number of school ANZAC Parades prior to ANZAC Day to play the Last Post and Reveille.

ANZAC Day's official naval ceremonies start with the 4am Dawn Service at ANZAC Square, as members of the Tri-Service Cenotaph Party. This is followed by the Bulimba ANZAC Day March and Service, commencing at 7:30am at Oxford Street, Bulimba, where the Band, Colour Party and personnel from Naval Headquarters, South Queensland, will lead the Parade and provide music for the service. Able Seaman Darren Skaar will then provide the bugling for the Dias Ceremony in Adelaide Street at 10am.

The Navy will then be participants in the ANZAC Parade through the streets of Brisbane City, where they will be joined by more Naval Personnel, past and present. The Navy contingent will make up the middle section of the parade. Some of the best vantage points for this parade include the top end of the Queen Street Mall, opposite ANZAC Square and at the Corner of Creek and Adelaide Streets. If the weather is fine, get there early for the 10am start, as the crowds can sometimes be three or four deep.
