I probably wouldn't have visited this exhibition had not my friend Fran been interviewed for it. Sure it's a worthwhile hobby to clear up the local creek and I admire her dedication - but seriously how interesting could it really be? Some pictures of a creek and interviews with people who are involved.

I admit I was wrong... really really wrong. It was delightful and well worth the visit. Of course I should have known better because Museum of Brisbane's exhibits are invariably interesting and brilliantly curated. This one is no exception.

First - the film which consists of a series of short journeys along the creek showing it's many aspects from mangroves to boatyards to kids playing in the shallows. I can't quite describe how involved I felt as I visually explored the creek. The photography is somehow personal and made me feel an emotional connection.

Then the interviews... They are so caringly and intimately made. The Filmmaker, Trish Fitzsimmons has put so much heart into the process, interviewing a range of interesting and diverse people. I had no idea so much was going on - or has happened in the past - in that not so little creek.

I went in for a quick look to see Fran's moment of glory and stayed for ages just listening, learning and grinning fondly at the screen.

Exhibit is on till 11 October 2015. That's only 6 weeks to go.

If you have the tiniest interest in creek regeneration, Brisbane History, boating, filmmaking or just want to see my friend Fran being sweet, go see this. Just do it.

And of course there are always other exhibitions at the Museum too so you get value for your visit.

[SECTION]William Bustard. Painting With Light[/SECTION]
The other exhibition is William Bustard - artist, illustrator and stained glass window designer.

Sometimes exhibition by one artist can get a bit tedious when they have a "style' - especially if the style is not to your taste. This fellow is prolific and the variety of painting in over 70 of his works is wide.

He is particularly - and deservedly - regarded for his mastery in capturing the quality of Queensland light. Arriving here from England in 1921 he became captivated by this light and 'interpreted this unique characteristic through his multi-faceted art practice.'

The stained-glass is magnificent and is well worth a visit for that alone. If you are impressed, on Saturday October 10th at 10am you can join a walking tour to see some of Bustards stained-glass in Brisbane churches.

This exhibition is on till January 2016 but don't leave it till the last minute. You know you'll forget.

I can't believe I've never even heard of him.

[SECTION]Clock Tower Tour[/SECTION]

Free tours of the Clock Tower are also available every 15 minutes between 10.15am and 4.45pm. Tickets are free and are on a first come , first served basis. If there's queue you can reserve a ticket and then wander off to see the exhibits or you can relax in the comfortable lounge chairs. There is also a small gift shop to peruse.

Travel in a beautiful, old hand-operated lift to what used to be one of highest spots in Brisbane and still provides a bird's-eye view of the city. The clock tower has been in operation since the opening of City Hall in 1930 and has seen hundreds of thousands of visitors in that time.

Walk out onto the observation platform to absorb the unique view of ever-changing Brisbane. Be warned it can be quite hot in the lift in mid summer.
