The offers Canberrans a chance to get friendly with some of the world's most exciting creatures.
The contains animals from around the world as well as native species. It is also the only combined zoo and aquarium in Australia.

The enclosures offer easy viewing and allows you to feel close to the animals.

However, some of the animals like the snow leopard can be particularly difficult to see, as they often blend in with their habitat. Other cheeky animals just like to hide. While I was there the giraffe didn't want to leave his stable.

The aquarium has a great variety of sea creatures, fish and reptiles. One tank features a range of sharks and a gigantic groper, which is definitely an exciting sight for children. Depending on the time of day there is also a chance to hold a snake.

The native walk through gives visitors a chance to experience our native animals such as the emu, wallaby and kangaroos in their own enclosure.

The zoo offers lots of tours and adventures to make your animal experience more intimate.

Meet a cheetah offers lucky visitors a chance to pat the largest cat to purr. You must be at least 12 years old to participate and a minimum of 1.5metres tall.

The zoo venture tour allows you to feed the animals and look behind the scenes at the work of the keepers. The tour goes for 2 hours and involves a lot of walking. An age restriction of 10 years old applies.

The zoo contains plenty to look at but is small enough that you can see everything in a couple of hours. This means that it is a great way to spend a morning or an afternoon.

With summer holidays coming up, you might want to make a day out of it. The zoo offers BBQ and picnic facilities so you can bring your lunch and turn it into a family event.
