I don't know about you, but I've always yearned to be an adventurer, even if it was only in my dreams.

I dreamt of paddling steep rivers in India, Peru and Russia, and creating innovative technical solutions to test the limits, confront risk and explore harsh environments first hand. A dream for me, but a reality for a man named Bryan Smith.

If you don't already know his name, you will once you see this show. Bryan Smith has lived the dream, and now will share it live with you.



Ten years ago Smith was a virtual unknown, a filmmaker 'wannabe', who bought his first camera at Wal-Mart.

He's confronted the risks time and time again, and just a decade on he has become one of the top adventure film makers in the world, receiving National Geographic Expedition Council grants, with his films showing at Banff and Telluride Mountain Film Festivals, he has enjoyed fantastic success on the National Geographic Channel.

Even behind the camera Smith joins in the action while capturing it on film to get the magic shot that is amazing with dizzying images evoking the deepest senses of adventure in all who see his work.

Smith is not a thrill seeker, rather a deeply creative, conservation-minded, passionate storyteller who uses his film making craft consciously to elevate stories that would otherwise pass unnoticed, invigorating and inspiring something deep inside us all.

As he puts it, "No expedition, adventure or film comes about without a little bit of suffering. But the suffering co-efficient is my key to success."

Award winning film maker, adventurer and conservationist for the National Geographic Channel Bryan Smith will showcase never before seen images and film footage, exhilarating adventures and gripping moments from his assignments world's most remote and dangerous places, during his national tour from 28 September to 14 October 2014.

National Geographic Live will present the images and footage of this intrepid traveller, photographer and film maker live onstage providing a firsthand behind-the-scenes look at filming some of the Earth's most challenging environments.



National Geographic Live is responsible for bringing the exploration and adventures of those like Smith to the rest of us, those who only dream of adventure, though are not able to live the dream.

Thankfully proceeds from tickets sales of this tour help fund future National Geographic initiatives in field research, exploration and education, allowing us 'normal' mortals to live the experience of these incredibly brave intrepid travellers, who have committed to create immortal memories for us all, covering wildlife and habitat conservation, natural phenomena and issues such as climate change relevant to us all.
