Myuna Farm, Doveton

Last weekend, my family packed a gourmet picnic lunch, rugged up in warm jackets, and grabbed our cameras to embark on an adventure to
Myuna Farm , Doveton Melbourne.
Upon entry, we were handed a loaf and bread and directed to the feed trail. This was the first time my two young children had an opportunity to come face to face with so many animals; their excitement was contagious.
The first animal we came upon was a Water Buffalo. He was so gentle as he graciously enjoyed the piece of bread my son gingerly offered him. His pleading eyes stared straight through my soul and inevitably procured more bread from my bag. He perfected this 'please, more' act so well that I found it very hard to move away with any bread left in my bag.
We came across very hungry Sheep, Goats, Deer, Camels and Alpacas. All of which provided continuous delight to my bread-throwing children.
As we walked to the shaded picnic tables, we came across numerous rabbit hutches spread sporadically across the farm. Some of these contained the smallest, fluffiest bunnies I have ever seen.
We sat down to our picnic, across from a large playground, maze and pony rides. There's also a cafe where you can purchase food and coffee at fairly decent prices.
Next, we made our way through the nursery where my Son enjoyed hands on interaction with baby goats and cuddles with bunnies and guinea pigs.
Here we boarded the little train that travelled slowly along a path showcasing Kangaroos, Horses, VERY large and VERY smelly Pigs, a large lake with a variety of water birds and ducks, bats hanging from the trees and beautiful large Cows. The train was the highlight of the day for both of my children.
We finished the day off with an ice cream from the cafe whilst watching an interactive display on rainwater. It was hard to tell who enjoyed the day more!
