Santa is back at Myer on Bourke Street Mall.

This year's Myer Christmas Window theme follows that of Russell the Sheep who saved Christmas after Santa and his reindeer plummeted to earth.

It is a story based on the UK writer Rob Scotton's storybook titled "Russell's Christmas Magic"

Russell the Sheep witnessed a shooting star plummet towards earth.

When he went over to investigate, he noticed that it was Santa and his reindeer. The sleigh was in pieces. Christmas was cancelled, but then…

…while wielding his long-handled shovel, the trusty sheep dug and dug and dug into the snow.

Santa, with his great big gut, watched on.

What emerged from the snow was an old rustic-looking blue car.
Santa hooked-up his reindeer to the car.

Christmas was saved. Santa, the reindeer, and the car continued their journey to deliver presents to people all across the world.

[ADVERT]From where did the story emerge?
Rob Scotton was cycling through the fields of his home in the UK when he noticed a group of sheep taking shade beneath a tree. It was from here that his idea sprung into motion, and a story-book with illustrations to warm the christmasy-heart followed suit.

The Making of…
The dedicated teams of designers, sculptors, illustrators, make-up artists, costume designers, and painters spent the past nine months working on the theme which is showing in Melbourne and Brisbane.

My personal favourite was the frog. Sitting in the bottom right-hand corner while reading the newspaper called Frogville Daily, the front-page article read "A number of media buying agency press directors who buy ad space in newspapers on behalf of clients are confident that Christmas will be full of cheer for the sector "There are certain clients that are cutting budgets, but there is no massive concern in the market yet" Says Zoe Bale print planning director at media buying agency Carat.
