Known for its great wine, sunny climate and river location,
Mildura is a popular destination for those wanting to experience a little of regional Victoria. Mildura now boasts its own annual music festival, which attracts local and international musicians for performances, workshops and classes, giving visitors a chance to experience music in an unique environment.
This year,
The Murray River International Music Festival will run from the 20th to 31st January and feature performances from well-known guitarist
Massimo Scattolin and a flute solo from
Roberto Fabbriciani. A few locations have been specially chosen for their outdoor atmosphere, including the Ampelon Gardens and the Mildura Homestead Lawns where listeners will also be welcome to sample regional fare and to bring their own picnic rugs and chairs.
Tickets range in price from about $10 to $30, with an extra charge for supper and drinks. Some performances include a full lunch or dinner, as well as wine tasting. The full program can be viewed
online, where tickets can also be easily booked.
The festival is also the perfect opportunity to visit Mildura and surrounding regional areas such as Swan Hill, Shepparton and Echuca where performances will be held. Mildura is about a day's drive from Melbourne along the Sunraysia Highway, however airplanes and trains are also convenient
transport options.
