Most Perth locals are familiar with the veterinary clinic at Murdoch University as the go-to place when an animal needs special care, but in fact the vet clinic is only a small part of the School of Veterinary and Life Sciences . Now the first ever on 28 September offers a chance to learn more about the research and discoveries taking place in wildlife science. This free event is open to everyone with an interest in wildlife, be it rare and endangered or just living in suburban backyards.

Proudly sponsored by The Western Australian Department of Parks and Wildlife, The Australian Society for Parasitology, Faunatech, and Wombaroo, Wildlife Day will highlight the work of some of Murdoch's many different research groups . Visitors will have the chance to meet scientists and discover cutting edge research in areas as diverse as Conservation Medicine, urban ecology and wildlife biology in animals from fish to elephants. Speakers include internationally recognised experts as well as up and coming new wildlife researchers.

The program is varied and includes specialised topics such as marsupial anatomy, the use of technology to tag and track marine animals and the consequences of parasites in animal populations. There are also presentations on more familiar concerns such as conservation, Pet Cats & Wildlife and Urban Bird Ecology. Follow Wildlife Day on Twitter for the latest information on the topics and presenters.

is free and open to everyone however registration is required. Morning tea and lunch are provided.
