Morrie Harrell Playground is a hidden park in the Suburban streets of Unley. While it may be hard to find, the park is worth it, especially if you have younger children. With fun play areas in such a secluded spot, this is a great place to head for a day out with the kids, one that will be relaxing for you, and fun for them.
The park is located between Ramage Street and Ash Avenue, just off of Arthur Street, in Unley. It can be a little tricky to find if you don't know the exact street, which makes it a nice little hideaway. The park is also very close to the Unley Shopping Centre, which makes it a great place to have a picnic and eat some of the gourmet treats available here. If you do want to have a picnic you can either set up a spot on the grass, or on the provided picnic table. There are unfortunately no barbecue or toilet facilities at the park.
There is a large brightly coloured playground at the park, that is enough to entice any child's imagination. While there is plenty of fun stuff to do for older children, the playground still has its simple aspects that can be enjoyed by much younger children. There is a slide, as well as plenty of climbing frames, encouraging your children to explore. One of the best additions to the playground is the spinning wheel, which children will find very fun.
There are also other things for younger children to enjoy. The sandpit is a great place for young children to play, because they can have fun without having to worry about tall playground equipment. Bring along some toys like a bucket and spade, and let the kids just have fun. There is also a small cubby house which allows children to play and use their imagination.
Other fun things to do at the park include playing ball games, having a throw of a frisbee, or even trying to fly a kite. There is a decent amount of open space, giving kids plenty of space to run around in. There are no bike paths in the park, so it isn't a great place to teach the kids how to ride, but they'll find plenty of fun things to do.
This quiet park really comes to live with the sound of children playing, so take them along as a special treat. There are plenty of fun things to do, and it makes a nice quiet place to visit for a relaxing afternoon.
