The
Ford Focus Moonlight Cinema is just about set to begin its 2011/12 Summer Program at New Farm Park. Every year, an area of the park in front of the Brisbane Powerhouse is transformed into an outdoor cinema where you can picnic on the grass while enjoying a recent release movie under the stars.
This year the program includes blockbusters such as Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Immortals, Mission Impossible 4, Sherlock Holmes 2 and many more. Most are only shown once over the two and a half month-long season so it's best to get tickets early to avoid missing out on your chosen film.
Last year's event
Tickets are $16 for an adult and are available on the
website. They will also be available at the box office from 6pm but these will be limited and possibly sold out. You can take along your own picnic rugs, pillows, blankets, food and drinks (no BYO alcohol) and there will be bean bags available to hire for $6. There will also be plenty of food and beverages around at the event, with New York style street food vendors and a full bar on site. This year, guests can even book gourmet picnic hampers to enjoy with the movie.
The movies will be playing every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday night from December 14 until February 26th from 7pm. Gates open at 6pm and if you want a great vantage point don't wait until the last minute to arrive.
