Monster Jam, a chaotic series of races and stunts with giant trucks defying the laws of common sense, returns to Australia in October for a national tour to excite boys and girls seeking thrills and their frustrated parents dreaming of the ultimate peak-hour traffic buster. Wheelies, doughnuts and freestyle racing will dazzle spectators in the vast arenas buzzing with fireworks, roaring engines and daring stunt drivers.
Since the 1970s, brash Americans have spent many hours in their garages, modifying their utes in the ultimate 'Keep up with the Joneses' race, measured with insane motoring design and dangerous amounts of horsepower. When these massive trucks couldn't fit in garages, they simply drove over cars to find parking, using tyres taller than most people. The perfect solution for road rage, the spectacle quickly spread throughout America, reaching Australia and featuring in the 2016 Federal Election with Pauline Hanson piloting a monster truck to claim a Senate seat. As extreme sports enters mainstream culture with skateboarders, BMX riders, snowboarders, motocross racers and surfers becoming the new generation of sporting role models, monster trucking has developed with thrilling races, stunts and precision driving.
The special events, featuring trucks including the Grave Digger, Dragon, Maximum Destruction (Max-D), Toro Loco, Pirate's Curse and Zombie, begins at Melbourne's AAMI Park with 2pm and 7pm shows, continuing to Adelaide, Sydney and Perth. Prices start at $43 for adults and $28 for kids with special pit passes available to meet the drivers and touch the Monster Trucks. To book, click
